Android App Design

Android has the largest mobile user base in the world, and its design language, Material Design 3, is more flexible than ever. We design Android apps that feel native, look premium, and serve users across the fragmented Android device landscape.

// Key benefits

What makes this service valuable

Material Design 3 expertise

Material You (MD3) brings dynamic theming, updated components, and an expressive design system. We design with MD3 patterns and components that engineers can implement cleanly with Jetpack Compose or XML.

Device fragmentation handling

Android runs on thousands of device models with varying screen sizes, densities, and aspect ratios. We design adaptive layouts that hold up across the spectrum.

Dynamic Color support

Android 12+ allows apps to adopt the user-generated colour palette. We design colour schemes that work with Dynamic Color while maintaining brand coherence.

Designing for the Android ecosystem

Android design has matured significantly with Material Design 3. The system offers expressive components, adaptive layouts, and Dynamic Color, all of which require careful design implementation to produce experiences that feel premium.

We design Android apps at standard device sizes (360dp, 393dp, 412dp) with explicit density handling. Our Figma files use Material components as a base, extended with custom brand components.

// What this includes

  • Material Design 3 component library
  • Phone, foldable, and tablet layout design
  • Dynamic Color and brand colour integration
  • Dark Theme and Light Theme designs
  • Back gesture and predictive back design
  • Google Play Store graphics design
  • Notification and widget design

// Deliverables

What you receive

Every engagement produces clear, documented deliverables. Here is exactly what is included in our android app design service.

  • 01Full Android app design in Figma
  • 02Dark and Light theme variants
  • 03Adaptive layouts for phone, foldable, and tablet
  • 04Google Play Store screenshots and feature graphic
  • 05Component library with MD3-aligned patterns
  • 06Developer handoff with density and specification annotations

// In practice

How android app design engagements run

Material Design 3 components, dynamic colour from brand seed, and adaptive layouts for foldables/tablets. Navigation follows predictable back behaviour and bottom-bar patterns Android users expect. Design QA uses Android Studio layout inspector references; Play Store screenshot templates sized per device class.

// FAQ

Common questions about android app design

Do you design for Jetpack Compose or XML layouts?+

Our Figma designs are implementation-agnostic, they can be built with either Jetpack Compose or XML. We annotate handoffs with information relevant to both approaches.

How do you handle the diversity of Android screen sizes?+

We design at three form factors: phone (360dp), large phone/small tablet (600dp), and tablet (840dp+). We use Material Design adaptive layout patterns, list-detail, supporting panes, and single-column, for each form factor.

What is included in Play Store graphics?+

Play Store deliverables include: feature graphic (1024×500px), screenshots for phone and 7-inch/10-inch tablets, and an optional promotional graphic.
